President's Biography

Oliver W. Hill   

       
Oliver W. Hill is a fourth generation San Antonio native.  He is a retired General Manager assigned to Kelly Air Force Base, Texas serving more than 37 years. His last positions included a special assignment to the Director of Distribution on inventory matters, Program Manager of the Department of Defense Dog Center and Deputy for the Materiel Processing Division.  He retired in March 1990.

His civilian career was interrupted briefly by a six-month active duty tour with the 433rg Air Reserve Unit, Brooks Air Force Base.  He continued Reserve Duty with the unit that later transferred to Kelly.  He completed his Air Force Reserve duties in 1962, being honorably discharged after six years of service.

While employed at Kelly Air Force Base, he served on the Air Logistics Command EEO Council, was the San Antonio Logistics Command nominee in the Air Force Logistics Command Air Force Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action Competition (1980).

Mr. Hill is a life-long member of the St. James African Methodist Episcopal Church where he served in many capacities including chairman pro-team of the Trustee Board and Trustee for the Richard Allen Villa Housing Project. 

He has served on many boards and commissions in the city and has received many awards and letters of appreciation for his service which included “Father of the Year” by Ozeil Tent #15, Princes of Omar, Court of Calanthe.  Some other awards and recognitions received include the President’s Awards from the San Antonio Branch NAACP; the Champion of Education Award by the San Antonio Independent School District, the Southwest Texas Conference Laymen of the Award, a 2008 Honoree from the San Antonio Branch NAACP and the 2009 Hero’s Award from the National Black Caucus of Local Elected Officials.

Other activities include serving as Chairman of the City of San Antonio’s Affirmative Action Advisory Committee, the San Antonio Citizens Advisory Action Board (SAPD), Board member of the Fair Housing Council of Greater San Antonio, Board Member of The Employment Network (TEN), President of the Southwest Texas Conference Lay Organization, Board member of the VIA Metropolitan Transit Authority and their representative on the Transportation Policy Board of the Metropolitan Planning Organization, and member of the Historical Research Museum of the AME Church of Texas.

Mr. Hill is Life Member of the San Antonio Branch NAACP where he served as President in 1997 and was elected to serve again beginning January 1, 2011.

Mr. Hill is married to Minnie Mabry Hill and to this union were born three children – Oliver Wendell, Jr., of San Antonio; MSG Caron Susann Jackson, United States Army; and Shannon Diane Simpson, Dallas, Texas.  He and his wife are proud grandparents of Hannah Marie-Caron Simpson and Jillian Elessee Simpson.
